FOX40 HELPING HAND FUND DISTRIBUTES $314,000
IN GRANTS TO LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS
SACRAMENTO, January 20, 2006 -- The FOX40 Helping Hand Fund, a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation, announces distribution of 23 grants totaling $314,000 to local charitable organizations. Since its inception in 1998, the local fund has granted more than $4.1 million to support area children, youth and families. The distribution includes the Fund’s discretionary grant program and United Partners Campaign.
“FOX40 is pleased to be a able to support our community through our partnership with the McCormick Tribune Foundation,” says Audrey Farrington, Vice President & General Manager of KTXL FOX40. During this round of discretionary grants, the FOX40 Helping Hand Fund received requests from agencies throughout Northern California who provide services that range from educational after-school activities to shelter and counseling.
The 2005 United Partners Campaign participants received a total $170,000 in grants. This fundraising campaign allows supporters of participating non-profit organizations to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Fund that earns a 50% match from the McCormick Tribune Foundation thus allowing the donor to recommend a local agency for support.
“There are so many worthy organizations providing vital services. We are honored to support these organizations that continually work to improve the quality of life for those in our community,” says Farrington.
