It sounds like Homer Simpson's dream come true.

An entire week all devoted to beer.

Sacramento business owners are hoping the inaugural Beer Week brings in business especially since many microbreweries have been forced to shut down in the past year because of the tough economy.

No one in the beer industry can stand to see fellow microbreweries that have tapped out.

"All the breweries that have shut down for a variety fo reasons. We just have a very challenging market these days."

Glynn Phillips owns Rubicon Brewing Co. where they've been proudly brewing hand-craft beers for 22 years.

He says good beer and customer loyalty are just a few reasons his brewery has managed to come out on top in their downturn.

Others haven't been so lucky. In the past year, five Sacramento breweries shut down, leaving about ten left in the area.

Elk Grove Brewery and both Sacramento Brewing Co. locations were forced to shut their doors because of the rising cost of grain.

"Sacramento breweries are closing because of the sour economy, not sour beer."

Dan Scott's the Executive Director for the first-ever Sacramento Beer Week that kicks off tomorrow.

He's hoping the tastings and beer specials will create some buzz for business.

Beer Drinkers Sherry Lawson and David Lawson are excited for all the beer week festivities.
