Vacaville Parents Plead Not Guilty In Accidental Child Shooting
VACAVILLE - A Vacaville couple who were charged after their 8-year-old son accidentally shot and killed his little sister has pleaded not guilty in the case.

Twenty-eight-year-old Michael Shanahan and his 26-year-old wife Daniela entered their pleas Monday in Solano County Superior Court to charges of child endangerment and criminal firearm storage.

Authorities arrested the couple after their son apparently found Michael Shanahan's semi-automatic handgun on a bed and accidentally fired it. The bullet struck and killed 2-year-old Ayana on Sept. 23.

Daniela Shanahan faces additional charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. She previously was convicted of felony drunken driving.

The couple are due back in court on Dec. 8.
