UCD Students Break Silence In Library
Students at University of California, Davis are breaking the silence in the library this weekend, protesting proposed cuts to student services.

Organizers are calling it a "study in," and students plan to stay in the library, around the clock, through Sunday. Organizers hope to show UCD leaders the library is not a place to make cuts.

"This is the backbone of any learning institution. If we don't have a library, how can you learn? Especially since we've been facing so many cuts to classes," says Sergio Blanco, a UCD student.

Officials with the budget office at UCD say they understand the importance of the library too, but add all areas will face cuts to reduce the general fund by $175 million. They say the library's budget will go down by %10 or $1.6 million dollars, the smallest cut of any office on campus.
