Shingle Springs Rape Suspect Shoots Himself
SHINGLE SPRINGS - The search ends for a man accused of rape, as he remained in the hospital in critical condition Monday night, after police say he shot himself.

Earlier that morning, a woman had reported being raped near Old French Town Road in Shingle Springs.

Sheriff's deputies along with Swat Team members combed the area in search of the suspect.

They finally tracked him down, when they recieved a phone call from someone saying the suspect was at their home.

As officers entered the home, they say they heard loud gunshots and found that the suspect had shot himself in the head.

He's been identified as 41 year-old Ken Lowry.

Officers say Lowry remains in the Sutter Roseville Hospital in critical condition.
