MANTECA -
A convicted sex predator has spent years in a state mental hospital and now to the surprise of many he was released.
He's 50-year old Dwayne Smith, he sexually assaulted 2-kid's in the 1980's..he's out of jail now and suppose to be living with his parents in Manteca...
But until Smith registrars as a sex predator, very few people except for the Department of Corrections know his exact location.
Smith has 5-days to registrar, but that wait is concerning residents.
Donna Jones a Manteca resident says "I don't like those kind of people in our town". She and neighbors are furious Smith went from prison into their city. And are more upset, they don't know his current address. Colleen Mendoza also a Manteca resident says "it's really scary that this is happening...Manteca is a growing community..there are people who have kids in this town.
Still the Department of Corrections who said they couldn't tell us where Dwayne Smith has moved until he's registered with a city...So for now, it's not public record for anyone.
Manteca cops say they will be waiting for Smith to come into their offices and in the meantime will be looking for the predator. But Manteca residents say that doesn't reassure them as they wonder where in the heck is sexual predator Dwayne Smith.
