Life Term For Man Convicted Of Killing Plumas County Teens
QUINCY - A Plumas County judge has imposed consecutive life sentences for the man convicted of killing a teenage couple last year.

Superior Court Judge Ersel Edwards fought back tears before sentencing 19-year-old Reyes Carrillo-Garcia to life without the possibility of parole for killing the 18-year-olds.

Steven Furtado of Willows and Jennifer Carrigan of Chester were stabbed in the young woman's home in May 2008. Carrillo-Garcia had been Carrigan's boyfriend before she and Furtado began dating.

Carrigan's 20-year-old brother also died when he crashed his vehicle while driving home after hearing of his sister's death. During Monday's sentencing, his mother spoke of her pain in losing both children.

Carrillo-Garcia was convicted in October of two counts of first-degree murder.
