Two people are under arrest after authorities say they forced a teenage runaway to work in the Sacramento areas as a prostitute.

The Roseville Police Department announced the arrests of 21-year-old Syla Thongsy and 45-year-old Stephen Putnam on charges of forcing a minor into prostitution, false imprisonment, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and lewd acts with a minor.

Police say Thongsy housed a 15-year-old runaway girl in her home for nearly two weeks. While offering the teen shelter, Thongsy allegedly pimped the unidentified girl and refused to allow the girl to leave when she requested.

The girl managed to escape from Thongsy's house and returned to her family in Sacramento, at which point family members contacted the Roseville Police Department.

Putnam, who lives with Thongsy under unknown arrangements and was on probation, is suspected of engaging in "lewd and lascivious acts with a minor," according to a press release issued by the Roseville Police Department.

Thongsy is being held on $150,000 bail at the Placer County Jail; Putnam is being held without bail due to his probation violation.
