Heinze graduated from sierra high school, where he ran track. He's just started a two-year mission trip in outside Concepcion, very close to the quake's epicenter. His family spent some very anxious hours awaiting word that he was okay.
"It kind of brings home how much you love somebody," said Daniel's father Mitchell. "And how much you might miss them if you don't get to see them again."
Daniel's parents are hoping they'll speak with him soon, although young men on church missions like Daniel's don't often have the chance to call home. He does email every Monday.
