Eighty-year-old Mary Williams walks six miles, six days a week.
This time, she left her home a bit earlier Friday morning and took a short-cut through the gates of Del Oro High on King Road. That's where she made the gruesome discovery.
"Somebody's playing a joke on the kids. This is a mannequin. This not a body or anything," Williams said. "It's gotta be they're playing a joke on the Del Oro kids. And did you know what? I got closer and I says, 'Oh my God,' to me and I really freaked out."
Without touching the body, Williams checked for breathing. There was none. She said the woman was naked. She also noticed the victim had two rings on her left hand.
Williams then flagged down several vehicles before one driver finally stopped and called authorities. The area remained closed throughout the day and into the. Detectives called in CHP, who helped with tracking tire tread marks in that area.
An autopsy Monday will determine how the victim was killed and if a sexual assault occurred. As of Friday night, authorities hadn't released her name, pending notification to her family.
"This lady, whoever she is, beautiful. She didn't need to be thrown there like a piece of trash, " Williams said. "I hope, I hope that they find whoever killed her."
