Governor's Office: Totally Don't Recall Unpaid Tax Claim
SACRAMENTO - The celebrity gossip website TMZ.com posted a document reportedly from the Internal Revenue Service that shows California's Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger owes nearly $80,000 in unpaid taxes. However, this document is now being disputed by sources within the Governor's office.

The "Federal Tax Lien" document posted Friday on the gossip website shows the Governor failed to pay neary $40,000 in taxes in 2004 and 2005.

Sources within the Governor's office dispute any claim that Schwarzenegger is indebted to the government.

"The Governor has paid his taxes in full and on time," Press Secretary Aaron McLear said in a statement released to the media Friday morning. "No one, including the IRS has notified the Governor of any issues whatsoever with his taxes."

McLear said the Governor's office will contact the IRS to determine if the document posted on TMZ.com is legitimate.

The document attempts to force a lien on property belonging to the Governor in the amount of $79,064, the total amount allegedly owed in back taxes.
