47-year-old Scott Kernan, accused of DUI while operating a state-owned vehicle (KTLA)
SACRAMENTO -
A former prison warden and current California Department of Corrections undersecretary accused of driving under the influence in a state-owned vehicle last June says he'll plead guilty to DUI charges.
"I am deeply remorseful for my actions and arrest...and offer no excuse for my poor judgment," Scott Kernan said in a statement released today. "I am fully aware that my conduct was unbecoming of a peace officer."
CHP officers arrested Kernan on June 7th near Rancho Murietta as he was operating a state-owned vehicle. Kernan says he'll plead guilty to DUI charges at a July hearing and requested the California Department of Corrections re-establish his employment upon completion of his six-weeks, non-paid suspension.
Additionally, Kernan's California driver's license has been suspended.
