Ceres police officers have a identified a man shot to death overnight on Boothe Road. The shooting happened just after 1 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the victim lying in the street suffering from several gun shot wounds to his chest. The hunt for the shooter was delayed because for a while officers couldn't identify the victim who had a fake i.d. on him when he died. Hours after the shooting, Ceres detectives served a search warrant at the house across the street from where the victim was found. Even Ceres officers were surprised to be investigating a homicide on Boothe Road, "It's quiet here, we're not exactly sure at this point what happened -- what the impetus was, why this all started, " says Sgt. Allen McKay
