Some parts of the fulton corridor now look like a ghostown. Mike Daugherty's Chevrolet Dealership is the latest to close up shop after more than 50 years on Fulton Avenue.

"It's really unfortunate to see that long standing business close, I think it's a reflection of the auto industry and the tough decisions that GM has had to make," said Rob Leonard.

As the Daugherty Dealership leaves Fulton Avenue, Sacramento County will loose several hundred thousand dollars year, that fund crucial services.

"Cuts to social programs, law enforcement, parks impacts, public services across the board," adds Leonard.

Compare the empty lots you drive past on Fulton Avenue to a drive around the Roseville Auto Mall, where you can see lot after lot, full of cars being sold.

The Roseville Auto Mall hasn't lost many dealers, in fact they're in the middle of a 6 million dollar expansion project. Construction crews are knocking down the outer wall to display more cars for sale.

But all hope is not back in Sacramento County for Fulton Avenue dealerships.

"We're seeing spaces that had gone vacant, starting to be re-occupied and activity beginning again,"

The county is now talking about bringing Hubacher Caddilac's dealership to the soon to be vacant lot. Hubacher would consolidate GM brand vehicles to sell in one lot.
