Authorities say five CHP officers were forced to open fire on a suspect following a high-speed pursuit in the early hours of Tuesday morning.The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said via a press release Tuesday afternoon that CHP officers assigned to Sacramento joined officers from Stockton in a high-speed pursuit of a male suspect along Interstate 5. The suspect exited the freeway on Laguna Boulegard, where the suspect's truck was struck by a patrol car attempting a PIT maneuver.
One officer's taser use on the suspect had little effect. Officers open fired on the suspect, wounding him several times, when he attempted to move his truck in the direction of the officers.
The suspect died from wounds sustained during the shooting. His identity is not being released until next of kin are notified by the coroner.
The CHP officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative paid leave.
