Carmichael -
One person was injured after a fire tore through a Carmichael home Sunday night.
The fire broke out just after 9 p.m. in the garage of the home on Wingate Drive near Engle Road.
Neighbor Heather Spencer told FOX40 a mother was trying to get her sleeping daughter out of the home. Spencer says she helped pull the daughter out through the window. Firefighters say a female was hospitalized for burns on both hands and smoke inhalation, but would not confirm if it was the mother or daughter.
Firefighters say no one else was inside the home. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Neighbors say the husband of the family has been out of work, and that they were happy to help the family.
