Student Judicial Affairs at UC Davis say it's a positive sign of student services on campus. They claim the number shows that students feel comfortable reporting crimes when they occur.
"UC Davis is nationally recognized as a model program for its outreach efforts and services for survivors," says Julia Ann Easley, Public Information Representative for UC Davis. "Research shows that without efforts such as those implemented at UC Davis, victims are less likely to report incidents and seek services."
There were a total of 69 forcible sexual offenses reported between 2006 and 2007 on campus.
"The Campus Violence Prevention Program at UC Davis...does its best to encourage individuals to report sexual assault," said Easley.
Last year, a report in Reader's Digest magazine said UC Davis among the top five worst colleges for crime based on reporting statistics.
